Description
As a businessman, Jim has enjoyed a successful career spanning over 35 years and six countries. As a family man, he has enjoyed raising three children and welcoming seven grandchildren into his life with his late wife, Ivy. He has since also welcomed two great grandchildren. Now married to Diane, Jim has expanded his family by one child and four grandchildren.
Over the years he has served as a member on numerous City of Calgary boards and committees including:
•City of Calgary Subdivision Appeal Board
•Land use planning and roadway development
•Peter Lougheed hospital expansion
•N.E. LRT extension
He has also served in his community as president of the Coral Springs Residents’ Association and received Alberta’s Centennial Medal and both the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee Awards for community service.
Prior to being elected in 2007, Jim served as the president of the N.E. Calgary District for the Conservative Party of Canada from 2000-2007. He currently serves as vice-president of the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association.
Jim's experiences in life have been varied and dynamic, built on the principles of collaboration, commitment to community, future-focus, integrity and responsiveness. These principles make Jim a results-driven individual who effectively represents Ward 3 on Calgary City Council.
