Description
Central to WinSport's Winter Sport Institute, Canada Olympic Park is the hub-facility in the group of training and competition venues. As the premiere site of the XV Olympic Winter Games in Calgary, the venue is perhaps the most visible legacy of the 1988 Games to visitors and Calgary alike - truly a one-of-a-kind attraction.
Situated 15 minutes from downtown Calgary, Canada Olympic Park (COP) is distinct from most Olympic venues in that it continues to function as a multi-purpose competition, training and recreation area designed for year-round use by both high performance athletes and the general public.
In the winter months Canada Olympic Park is host to almost 300,000 ski and snowboard visitors each year. With the second largest ski school in Canada, and the only half-pipe located within North American city limits, there are lessons available for a variety of skill levels. In the summer months the park is alive with Zipliners, Summer Campers and Mountain Bikers.
In the summer months Canada Olympic Park transforms its ski hill into a mountain bike park featuring downhill trails, the East lands cross-country trails, Discover Park for those new to riding on dirt and the Skills Park with pump track, street style obstacles and dirt jumps.
